Nice little back and forth buttons and arrows are fine for most web sites (see bottom of this page); lots of flashy things are distracting. But on occasion a blinking whatsit is effective in drawing attention to a point you need to emphasize. The same warning applies to background patterns (bottom row), especially when the text is obscured by them. Again, sometimes it works and actually improves the site. (Blue bar on the left is a case in point.)

Fishenet Buttons &
Backgrounds Sampler

Don't let the phony-looking TV set frames distract you, the images are only what's inside, and I was just playing around with tabular frame format. Some of them are transparent so that the color box doesn't appear around them on a web page, but for the most part it is better to pick a 'box' color that matches your web page, or else contrasts with it in some way you like. All of these images are easily adaptable, of course, to meet other requirements and there is no problem customizing new ones. They are all SMALL, which is the main thing, so they won't slow up loading your web site. This is just a sampler -- we have dozens more and can easily make new ones.
